Research Detectives!
Throughout this unit, you will explore the life of a famous person who made a meaningful difference in the world. History is full of individuals who changed ideas, challenged unfair systems, invented new technologies, created inspiring works, or opened doors for future generations. By researching one of these figures, you will learn how to ask strong questions, gather information from reliable sources, and take notes that help you understand your person’s life, challenges, achievements, and lasting impact. This project gives you the chance to become a historian, someone who investigates the past to explain how and why people shaped the world around them.
Over the next two weeks, you will follow each step of the research process, from choosing your historical figure to presenting what you’ve learned in a clear and creative way. You will read, think, analyze, and organize information using the tools in your packet. By the end of the unit, you will create a final presentation that teaches others about your figure’s importance and helps answer our driving question: How can I research an important historical figure, evaluate information, and communicate what I’ve learned to others? This is your opportunity to dive into a story from history and tell it well.
