Move & Groove Brain Breaks Matter!

At Braintree Academy, we believe learning isn’t just about books, screens, or worksheets—it’s about the whole child. That means finding ways to balance academics with movement, creativity, and well-being. One of the simplest and most effective ways to support this balance is through brain breaks.

Why Movement Breaks Matter

Even the most dedicated learners need a reset. Research shows:

  • Short, regular breaks improve focus and memory.

  • Kids who take activity breaks increase on-task behavior by up to 20%.

  • Adults benefit too—movement reduces stress, sharpens attention, and helps prevent burnout.

A quick 5–10 minutes of movement can recharge the brain, improve emotional well-being, and get everyone ready to tackle the next challenge with renewed energy.

Tips for Making Brain Breaks Work in Your Day
  • Schedule them: Aim for 5–10 minutes of movement every hour.

  • Mix it up: Try dance one day, yoga the next, then sports-themed play.

  • Join in: Kids love when adults participate—it helps model healthy habits!

  • Follow their lead: Let your student pick a playlist or card to boost ownership and motivation.

Final Thought

Learning is a marathon, not a sprint. By weaving in small moments of movement, you’re not only boosting academic success—you’re supporting happier, healthier kids (and adults too!). Take a break, get up, move, and groove—because a moving brain is a learning brain.
