Virtual | Life of a Revolutionary War Soldier | February
Calling all historians! Students will take a look at primary sources and replica artifacts to gain a picture of daily life for Revolutionary War soldiers. We will learn reasons for joining the conflict, what soldiers would have worn, and eaten and illnesses they may have endured.

This neat event is brought to us by The Virginia Museum of History & Culture which is owned and operated by the Virginia Historical Society, the oldest cultural organization in Virginia, and one of the oldest historical organizations in the country! Through examination and discussion of primary source documents, students will learn more about the life of soldiers during the American Revolution, analyze letters from the period to learn about food, medicine, and illnesses faced by the soldiers, understand their day-to-day decision making processes, and determine why people joined the Revolutionary cause. To end the program, students will read excerpts from the diary of a soldier who was present at the Battle of Yorktown in 1781!
