Explore & Grow: Bowling | Braintree Academy Turn a day at the lanes into hands-on learning! This print-and-go packet builds real-world math, science, and writing as students identify lane parts and equipment, practice scoring basics, collect simple data on pinfall, and explore how angle, speed, and friction affect results. Flexible by grade band—perfect before, during, or after your bowling trip.

What’s inside (highlights)

  • Lane & gear ID and sketch-and-label (approach, foul line, arrows, gutters, pins, ball)

  • Safety & etiquette checklist (taking turns, ball weight, awareness on the approach)

  • Scoring practice (frames, strikes, spares) with quick pinfall tables

  • Data & STEM prompts: measure/compare pin totals, averages, simple bar graphs

  • Motion & design reflections (angle, speed, friction; how to aim and adjust)

  • Short writing prompts (coach-a-friend tips, “my best frame,” teamwork reflections)

How to use Preview key terms (frame, strike, spare, approach, foul line), bring clipboards for pinfall notes, then wrap up with a quick score analysis or bar graph back in class. Print only the pages you need by grade level.
