Field Trip FAQs Q:   What are Braintree Academy field trips?  A:  Braintree Academy hosts a variety of fun, social, and educational in-person and virtual events throughout the program each month.  Q:   What is the cost for field trips? A:  All Braintree Academy field trips are free for registered students. For K-8 events, one parent per family is covered by Braintree Academy. Costs for parents attending high school field trips, additional immediate family members, or guests (if the event is open to them) are detailed in the event invitation. Q:   Who can attend field trips? A: All Braintree Academy students are invited to attend. For K-8 students, a parent or guardian is required to attend with the student(s). High school parents are always welcome to join, but their costs may vary depending on the event. Each field trip invitation will include all of the details.  Q:   How do I sign up for field trips? A:  You can find monthly events in our Sign Up Central platform, which is linked in each family’s parent portal account. They will become available no later than the 20th of the month for the following month. A reminder to sign up will be emailed to all of our families.  Q: How many field trips am I allowed to attend? A:  Please sign up for the field trip in your area. If you are traveling through an area with a field trip, students and their immediate family can sign up to attend. We ask that you cancel at least 48 hours before the deadline or event date if your plans change. Q:   Do I have to stay with my children on field trips? A:  Yes! Braintree Academy K-8 field trips are not drop-off events, and parents are responsible for supervising their children at all times. Some High School events can be drop-off events; please read the invitation for details. Q:   What do I do if the field trip is full? A:  If a field trip is full, you can join the waitlist by clicking the “Sign Up Here!” button found in each invitation. This lets our coordinators know that there is demand for additional spots. When additional spots are added or someone cancels, everyone on the wait list will receive an email notifying them that spots are available. These spots are filled on a first-come basis. Q: What happens if I sign up for a field trip but don’t attend? A:  Costs for students are covered by Braintree Academy. We do request that you sign up so we have a headcount, and cancel at least 48 hours prior if you're unable to attend. Because there is a cost to Braintree Academy for field trips and occasionally limited space, if you do not show up for a field trip you have signed up for, we track that on the No-Show List. If you have a no-show for a field trip, you’ll be contacted by a member of the events team as a courtesy to ensure that you know how to cancel and the importance of doing so. No-showing to a field trip can negatively affect the venue and the student events budget.  Virtual Events do not require any cancellation, as an exact headcount isn’t required. If you can’t attend, we encourage families to stay signed up so they can receive the email with the recording when a recording is available.  Q: What if I can’t remember which field trips I have signed up for? A:  If you cannot remember what events you have signed up for, you can do the following steps:  1) Go to https://www.braintree4 me.com/ 2) Log into Parent Portal 3) Select MEMBER PROFILE from the Parent Portal dropdown menu 4) Select MY EVENTS on the left-hand side (on mobile device, use side arrows to scroll to MY EVENTS) In here, you will see a list of the field trips you are signed up for.  Q:   How do I cancel if my plans change? A:  If you nee d to cancel, try to do so at least 48 hours before the event so another family has a chance to attend. The steps for canceling are: 1) Go to https://www.braintree4me.com/ 2) Log into Parent Portal 3) Select MEMBER PROFILE from the Parent Portal dropdown menu 4) Select MY EVENTS on the left-hand side (on mobile device, use side arrows to scroll to MY EVENTS) 5) Find your field trip and select CANCEL RSVP. Q: I’m struggling to keep track of these field trip dates! Any tips? A:  As soon as you RSVP for an event, a confirmation page will appear confirming your reservation. As part of that confirmation page, there is an option to add the event to your calendar. Clicking on the button will give you different calendar options, such as Google and Outlook. You will also be sent an automatic reminder email 1-3 days before the event. There is also the option of downloading the WIX Spaces App to your phone and receiving reminders through the app directly to your phone.  Q: How do I pay for my guests? A: There will be a link in your field trip confirmation email directing you to the platform where you can pay. Payments will be field trip specific, so please be sure you are on the correct field trip payment link before checking out. There are no refunds available; however, under extenuating circumstances, the events team will try to work with a family to apply the nonrefundable payment towards a future field trip.  Q: Are there any other rules for field trips? A:  Please read the event invitations for any specific venue rules that need to be followed. The Braintree Academy field trip rules can be found in the Code of Conduct  for events, which is included in each event invitation and must be agreed to when signing up for an event. Q: Who do I contact if I have questions? A:  The best person to contact when you have questions about a particular field trip would be the Event Coordinator who organized the field trip. Their email can be found in the field trip invitation. If you have more general questions about field trips you can contact the following: In-person: IN, ND, OK, WY: Events@BraintreeEd.com ID: events.braintree@malad.us Virtual/Contest/Special Programs:  IN, ND, OK, WY: Virtual.Events@BraintreeEd.com   ID: virtualevents.braintree@malad.us   Field Trips Policy Attendee policy: In order to prioritize our amazing students and their families, our initial event sign pp spots will be open to Braintree Academy students, one parent, and the student’s second parent and/or siblings (immediate family). Invitations for events will not be initially open for people outside the student’s immediate family (guests) Student and immediate family spots are not interchangeable with people outside of the immediate family. If additional spots are available before the event sign up deadline, the event may open to people outside the immediate family (guests).  An email will be sent 5-7 days prior to the event to Braintree Academy families who are already signed up for the event to let them know additional spots are open. Costs: Costs for Braintree Students and one parent from the family are covered by Braintree Academy.  Braintree student’s immediate family costs need to be covered by the family. If the invitation is open to guests, the Braintree family is responsible for making sure those costs are covered for their guest(s) Costs and deadlines are outlined in the event invitation Field Trip Sign Up: Families should sign up for the event in their area, or if they are traveling, they can sign up for an event in the area they are traveling to. Please only sign up for events you are committed to attending. Many events are limited in capacity.  For Treasure Valley  families, please be sure to choose just one event in your area to give other students the opportunity to attend an event.  If there are still spots available 5-7 days before the event, families can sign up for that event in addition to the other event they signed up for. If more than one event is signed up for, the family will have to be removed from all events. Cancellation Policy: The default cancellation policy is 24 hours prior to the event. Please read the invitation carefully for deadlines specific to that event. For more information or questions: Email events@braintreeed.com Idaho families email events.braintree@malad.us

We want to help each student & parent find the pathways that will help them succeed and help reach personal goals and learning styles. Use this document to help choose the best pathway for your student! We have three main Learning Pathways available for K-8th grade. PreK students in Oklahoma will use the Portfolio Option. Best for: Those who prefer flexibility in the order of submissions. Instruction and support is given through feedback and teacher communication. The required list of learning goals to be met, along with learning resources and curriculum that can be used to meet those goals are provided in Schoology. Students can submit proof of learning through portfolio artifacts using those resources, or their own alternative resources. Learning Goals can be met in any order to allow flexibility in when topics are studied throughout the year.  Anchor classes K-5: Math and ELA 6-8: Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, Science, Health, PE, STEM Elective, Humanities Elective Description:  A class feel (without live meetings). An anchor teacher posts a video every 2 weeks, supports discussion boards, and grades student submissions. Work can be completed and submitted any time during the week. Best for:  Those who want structure but want to work on their own schedule. They can work ahead as the entire course is open at the start of the semester. There is a mastery-based assessment every week that covers the content provided in the course. Students can use their preferred learning resources to learn the information but have to submit the assignment in the course. They can ask to submit an alternative assignment but it needs to hit the same objective of the original assignment. For example, suppose the weekly object is “I can retell a story using facts and details.”. In that case, students can complete the given assignment or turn in something demonstrating they can retell a story using facts and details.  Teachers post biweekly videos to introduce students to the content and get to know the students. The class does not meet live and work can be completed and submitted any time during the week.  Cost: Free Enroll by signing up in Sign Up Central Additional Note:  K-8th Anchor classes are a complete stand alone curriculum when students complete all the assignments and optional learning activities. Live Classes K-8 Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies Live Complete Classes: Grades 3-8 Math, ELA Description: Live Class: Students meet one hour a week with a teacher/other students. There is additional structure in how and when topics are learned. Students complete specific assignments for the class. Live Complete Class: Students meet twice-weekly online. Additional assignments are given between lessons to reinforce learning. Extra teacher support and bonus resources provided. Best for: Those who like student to student interaction or a weekly lesson with a teacher. The classes are very hands-on and generally involve projects, discussions, and/or science labs. Kindergarten - 5th grade classes are designed to help introduce students to a variety of grade level standards but are not comprehensive as they only meet once a week. Additional learning the rest of the week is expected and assumed as the classes are only supplemental to the core curriculum. Cameras are required to be turned on during class to protect the safety of students (by knowing exactly who is in the class) and engagement/participation is expected. Sixth - eighth grade students have one weekly homework assignment submitted to their live class teacher. There is optional additional work for those who request it (who want the live class to be their full curricular program). This is only available for 6th-8th live classes.  Class sizes: K-2: Max 18 students 3-5: Max 22 students 6-8: Max 26 students Cost: LIVE CLASSES: $50 or 5000 points per semester ($100/10,000 points per year) LIVE COMPLETE CLASSES: $100 or 10,000 points per semester ($200/20,000 points per year) Enroll in Sign Up Central. Often new class sections can be opened based on interest.  Enrollment periods: Beginning of the year: Mid July - Mid August End of first quarter (Mid October) Beginning of section semester (Mid December - Early January) Additional Note:  Grade Level 6-8th live classes could be used as a complete standalone curriculum if students complete all the assignments , including the optional assignments and learning activities.

Families simply upload photos, scans, or screenshots of their student's work  directly onto the slide that matches the learning goal. This creates a growing digital portfolio of student learning throughout the year! Easy Submissions: You only need to submit one link  for your child’s Growth Journal. Each time you add new work, you use the same Google Slides or Canva link —no need to resubmit multiple links. Students may only mark off one goal per work sample in their Portfolio Submission unless the upload is a program completion report (such as a final ALEKS report). Multiple uploads can be submitted on one deadline and one learning goal PER upload can be marked off. The student will still need to upload a work sample for each Portfolio Submission over the school year, even if Learning Goals are completed earlier.  Meeting multiple goals with one work sample Submitted work should be portfolio quality and showcase the student’s best work. If a work sample the student is proud of meets Learning Goals in multiple core classes the same work sample may be used for multiple classes as long as it is submitted on the same deadline. Example : a report on pandas would likely meet a language arts Learning Goal and  a science Learning Goal as long as it is submitted on the same week.  Meeting multiple goals with a project One school project may also meet several Learning Goals over time. Example : a student may research pandas and submit the notes they took, then write a report, and finally do a presentation. The topic remains the same, but these 3 different submissions would meet 3 Learning Goals over time as the project was completed. For detailed information, resources, and aligned curriculum, please connect with your homeroom teacher and visit your Schoology homeroom.   Learning Goal Checklists Additionally, you can also track your student's learning goal progress by utilizing these printable checklists.  You  will be able to print off your student's grade level OR once you create a forced Google Doc copy, you can keep it available to check off digitally.
