In this article, get an overview of Braintree Academy's Supplemental Learning Funds | Points, designed to support customized student learning experiences. Learn how to utilize these funds for curriculum, classes, and educational resources, with options for direct orders and reimbursements (in applicable states). Discover approved uses, policies, and helpful tips to make the most of your student’s supplemental learning funds while meeting program requirements. This article is an overview of Supplemental Learning Funds | Points. For more detailed information, and to access Direct Orders | Reimbursements, please visit Fund Hub. For amounts and details, please refer to the Braintree Parent Guidebook under State-Specific Information. What are Supplemental Learning Funds | Points? The supplemental learning fund is a student credit used to select learning materials, classes & clubs, extracurricular opportunities, and other approved educational resources, creating a customized student learning experience.  Each student will receive a credit of supplemental learning funds/points each semester. These credits can be used to supplement the free resources that are already provided.  How can I utilize Supplemental Learning Funds | Points? The supplemental learning funds/points are used to order curriculum, lessons, and other resources to support and encourage lifelong learning. Direct orders or reimbursements (for those states that allow reimbursement) are limited to secular, educational items and activities. As long as program requirements for the year are completed, students are allowed to keep the learning materials they selected to continue their lifelong learning journey. The majority of these items are low-cost, consumable items that have no long-term value and are surplused at the end of the year.  Direct Order   Braintree Academy can purchase your approved supplemental learning resources from several retailers and have the items shipped to you directly, bypassing the reimbursement process. This service is FREE.  Direct Order Walkthrough VIDEO COMING SOON! (Indiana, North Dakota) Direct Order Walkthrough VIDEO COMING SOON! (Idaho, Oklahoma, Wyoming) Close to the beginning of the school year, usually in July or August, direct orders will become available. Parents can create a wish list to submit or set up an appointment with the direct ordering team to have the school purchase learning resources. Direct orders can be placed all year long, until sometime in March. Reimbursements   For states offering reimbursement (ID, OK, WY) beginning on May 1st, of the current school year, parents can begin purchasing learning resources and classes. Receipts can be submitted for reimbursement at the appropriate time. Watch for more information in announcements and emails. Reimbursements Walkthrough VIDEO COMING SOON! The purchase price will be deducted from the student’s supplemental learning fund/points. Need some ideas for supplemental learning resources? Your Homeroom Teacher is a great asset! Ask them for resource ideas and suggestions. Check out our Braintree Resource Guide  for information on online programs and how to submit with them. Here are some top picks organized by grade level to get you started.  Additional Learning Resource Suggestions Supplemental Learning Funds/Points Policies Each state has specific requirements related to supplemental learning funds. For specific information about your state, please visit Fund Hub . Requirements for Supplemental Learning Funds/Points Braintree students require a computer/tablet and  internet for state testing, digital submissions, and virtual participation in classes, clubs, or meetings. If the family does not already have access to those resources, parents should use the supplemental learning funds/points to provide those needed resources immediately after registration. Resources for core classes and required technology should be purchased first, followed by electives and other supplemental learning materials. There is no required amount that needs to be used towards core classes, leaving families the opportunity to apply the resources where students need them the most. Family with multiple students in Braintree? Learning funds used for individual lessons or classes must come from a specific student's allotment, but other supplemental resources may be shared between students within the same family. (No sharing in Indiana).   Do we keep materials purchased with supplemental funds? All curriculum and resources purchased by Braintree Academy are the property of Braintree Academy. If students complete all required learning plans and assessments, testing, state-mandated reporting, and student and parent surveys, all supplemental resources are surplused to the families to keep at the end of the semester. If a student withdraws from the program early or does not complete the program requirements, all resources purchased with supplemental learning funds must be returned to the program in a timely manner (unless Braintree Academy classifies them as consumable). Parents may also have the option of purchasing the items from Braintree Academy instead of returning them. Return postage is the responsibility of the parent. If students do not return materials as required, and the family chooses to reapply to the program, students may be placed on funding probation and only allowed to purchase essential educational materials until they show adequate progress in their courses. Supplemental Learning Funds Probation Policy Students who are not in good standing, are failing classes, or are admitted on probationary status may be placed on funding probation. Students on funding probation will not have access to first-semester supplemental learning funds/points until January 1 and they will not have access to 2nd-semester learning funds/points until after they have completed spring state testing. If a student on probation needs to purchase essential curriculum or materials, they may appeal for an exception to have those specific items purchased through a direct order and shipped to their home. • North Dakota Supplemental Points

UPDATE! Starting Fall 2025, student supplemental learning resource points will be increasing to 190,000 pts (170,000 pts in years prior). Each student K - 8 receives 190,000 supplemental learning resource points each year. Half of those points can be used per semester. (95,000 for 1st semester and 95,000 points for 2nd semester.) For reference this is like a penny per point - $1900 total.  Using our points system parents can order additional approved educational resources. These resources can be used to supplement the free resources that are already provided.  Educational items such as curriculum, online subscriptions, computers/tablets, internet fees, extracurricular classes, tutoring, museum passes, tech items and so many more things can be ordered with the supplemental learning points system.  A parent gets access to these points through direct orders done through the school.   For items costing more than 30,000 points, parents must fill out a form for pre-approval (coming soon) , explaining why that particular item fits in with the student’s learning plan and receive approval through the orders team. What does the school calendar and daily schedule look like? Students follow a traditional school year calendar. Students are not required to login every day or keep track of seat time.  We understand that students are learning at home all day, every day.  Parents decide what they want their daily schedule to look like.     2025-2026 Submissions Due Dates coming soon! Does my child's schooling need to be done on a computer? No, we believe parents should have the flexibility to choose the best format for their student’s learning. Some families prefer a technology-based curriculum while others want to do learning using textbooks. Others prefer hands-on activities and real-world learning and many choose a mix of all three. It is our goal to support parents as they choose the ways their student learns best. It is the parents who will decide how much time the student spends on the computer, if any. Families in Braintree Academy are required to have access to a computer/tablet and internet to be able to fulfill the state testing requirements that are part of the program.   What classes will my student take? Students in grades K-8 will have the four core classes:  Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies as well as two electives.  The electives can be PE, fine arts, foreign language, technology, or anything the student is interested in.  There are varying courses/submissions also required per state. See state specific information in the article " Choosing Elective Classes " or Parent Guidebook - All States .   Do you offer teacher-led courses or classes? Yes, absolutely! Braintree offers virtual classes and clubs options. Explore more below!   Can my student be enrolled in two schools? Some states offer conditional dual enrollment possibilities.
