Students who would like to enroll between two public schools need to reach out to Trixy Lind at trixy.lind@malad.us Credits from other schools will be reviewed and credits from homeschooling and private schools might not transfer, depending on accreditation of original credits. Students can also take courses through colleges or IDLA ( Idaho Digital Learning Alliance ) as well. Field Trips Policy Attendee policy: In order to prioritize our amazing students and their families, our initial event sign up spots will be open to Braintree Academy students and one parent. During the initial sign-ups families may pay for additional guests who are immediate family only. Invitations for events will not be initially open for people outside the student’s immediate family. Student and immediate family spots are not interchangeable with people outside of the immediate family. If additional spots are available before the event sign up deadline, the event may open to people outside the immediate family (guests). An email will be sent 5-7 days prior to the event to Braintree Academy families who are already signed up for the event to let them know additional spots are open. Costs: Costs for Braintree Students and one parent from the family are covered by Braintree Academy. Other immediate family guests' costs need to be covered by the family. If the invitation is open to other guests, the Braintree family is responsible for making sure those costs are covered for their guest(s) Costs and deadlines are outlined in the event invitation Field Trip Sign Up: Families should sign up for the event in their area, or if they are traveling, they can sign up for an event in the area they are traveling to. Please only sign up for events you are committed to attending. Many events are limited in capacity. For Treasure Valley families, please be sure to choose just one event in your area to give other students the opportunity to attend an event. If there are still spots available 5-7 days before the event, families can sign up for that event in addition to the other event they signed up for. If more than one event is signed up for, the family will have to be removed from all events. Cancellation Policy: The default cancellation policy is 24 hours prior to the event. Please read the invitation carefully for deadlines specific to that event. WATCH THIS VIDEO to learn how to cancel your field trip. For more information or questions: FAQs Email events@braintreeed.com Idaho families email events.braintree@malad.us Grading Policy Grading scale for all states; Grading Scale Grades K through 6: P - 70% to 100% F - Below 70% Grading Scale Grades 7 & 8 (and all High School programs): A – 90 to 100 B – 80 to 89 C – 70 to 79 D – 60 to 69 F – 0 to 59 Our program is based on a mastery education model. This means that student grades are based on mastery of the Learning Goals and personal educational goals. Daily work is important for practicing the skills, but we do not need to see everything a student does. The biweekly learning logs and Learning Goal portfolio submissions allow students to show learning samples on specific Learning Goals and educational goals at the grade level they are working. Any student working more than one grade level below their enrolled grade level will be referred to the Student Success Team who can offer additional support and resources. A certified teacher will review each learning log and Learning Goal portfolio submission submitted and ensure the student has met the criteria set by the district. We expect students will be able to earn grades of 100% as the parent works with the teacher to ensure assessments meet the required criteria (i.e., learning and effort are demonstrated by the student) and assessments are turned in on time. Note: High School students' workload will be different from the K-8 program. If a student is struggling in daily work and not reaching mastery goals, the homeroom teacher is there to help. Parents or students may request help on any concepts through email, text, or by attending a teacher’s office hours. The homeroom teacher can provide additional resources, support, and, if needed, a referral to the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Grade Level Retention Policy We strongly believe in promoting students to the next grade level based on their academic achievements and individual growth whenever possible. We aim to provide students with the necessary tools and resources to be successful. Grade retention, or the practice of repeating a grade level, is generally discouraged. We firmly believe that with the right support and interventions, students can reach their full potential and continue to thrive academically. Studies have shown that grade retention can significantly delay a student's path to graduation and limit their future opportunities and increase their chances of dropping out in high school. However, we acknowledge that there may be rare circumstances where grade retention is deemed beneficial for the student's long-term success. If you, as a parent or guardian, have concerns about your child's academic progress and are considering grade retention, we request that you follow our established procedure. First, we ask that you compose a letter addressed to the school administration, explaining your reasons for contemplating grade retention. This letter should include any specific observations or concerns you have regarding your child's educational development. If those concerns are related to academic achievement, you will also need to complete a Tier one intervention form with your homeroom teacher and work with our Student Success Team to collect data for a minimum of six weeks. Additionally, we strongly encourage you to provide any supplementary documentation that could further aid us in assessing your child's situation. This might include academic evaluations, diagnostic assessments, or recommendations from educational specialists who have worked with your child in the past. Such documentation will help us tailor our support to meet your child's unique requirements effectively. Upon receiving your letter, supplementary documentation, and collecting data through the Student Success Team if applicable, we will schedule a meeting with you, the administration, and the appropriate teachers to discuss your concerns in detail. This meeting will allow us to gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's academic needs, consider alternative support strategies, and explore potential solutions together. Our dedicated staff is committed to working collaboratively with you to ensure your child's success. We will explore various academic interventions and support services to address any areas of concern. These may include tutoring, additional learning resources, or modifications to the curriculum to accommodate your child's individual needs. It is important to note that grade retention should be considered as a last resort and reserved for situations where there is substantial evidence that repeating a grade would genuinely benefit the student's overall educational growth. Our collective goal is to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can flourish. We appreciate your trust and confidence in our virtual school program. Please feel free to reach out to Kristin Skinner @ kristin.skinner@malad.us (Idaho) or your state coordinator (all other states) to schedule a meeting or address any questions you may have. Explore & Grow with Braintree Field Trips Access all our Explore & Grows below to enhance your learning at home! Field Trip FAQs Q: What are Braintree Academy field trips? A: Braintree Academy hosts a variety of fun, social, and educational in-person and virtual events throughout the program each month. Q: What is the cost for field trips? A: All Braintree Academy field trips are free for registered students. For K-8 events, one parent per family is covered by Braintree Academy. Costs for parents attending high school field trips, additional immediate family members, or guests (if the event is open to them) are detailed in the event invitation. Q: Who can attend field trips? A: All Braintree Academy students are invited to attend. For K-8 students, a parent or guardian is required to attend with the student(s). High school parents are always welcome to join, but their costs may vary depending on the event. Each field trip invitation will include all of the details. Q: How do I sign up for field trips? A: You can find monthly events in our Sign Up Central platform, which is linked in each family’s parent portal account. They will become available no later than the 20th of the month for the following month. A reminder to sign up will be emailed to all of our families. Q: How many field trips am I allowed to attend? A: Please sign up for the field trip in your area. If you are traveling through an area with a field trip, students and their immediate family can sign up to attend. We ask that you cancel at least 48 hours before the deadline or event date if your plans change. Q: Do I have to stay with my children on field trips? A: Yes! Braintree Academy K-8 field trips are not drop-off events, and parents are responsible for supervising their children at all times. Some High School events can be drop-off events; please read the invitation for details. Q: What do I do if the field trip is full? A: If a field trip is full, you can join the waitlist by clicking the “Sign Up Here!” button found in each invitation. This lets our coordinators know that there is demand for additional spots. When additional spots are added or someone cancels, everyone on the wait list will receive an email notifying them that spots are available. These spots are filled on a first-come basis. Q: What happens if I sign up for a field trip but don’t attend? A: Costs for students are covered by Braintree Academy. We do request that you sign up so we have a headcount, and cancel at least 48 hours prior if you're unable to attend. Because there is a cost to Braintree Academy for field trips and occasionally limited space, if you do not show up for a field trip you have signed up for, we track that on the No-Show List. If you have a no-show for a field trip, you’ll be contacted by a member of the events team as a courtesy to ensure that you know how to cancel and the importance of doing so. No-showing to a field trip can negatively affect the venue and the student events budget. Virtual Events do not require any cancellation, as an exact headcount isn’t required. If you can’t attend, we encourage families to stay signed up so they can receive the email with the recording when a recording is available. Q: What if I can’t remember which field trips I have signed up for? A: If you cannot remember what events you have signed up for, you can do the following steps: 1) Go to https://www.braintree4 me.com/ 2) Log into Parent Portal 3) Select MEMBER PROFILE from the Parent Portal dropdown menu 4) Select MY EVENTS on the left-hand side (on mobile device, use side arrows to scroll to MY EVENTS) In here, you will see a list of the field trips you are signed up for. Q: How do I cancel if my plans change? A: If you nee d to cancel, try to do so at least 48 hours before the event so another family has a chance to attend. The steps for canceling are: 1) Go to https://www.braintree4me.com/ 2) Log into Parent Portal 3) Select MEMBER PROFILE from the Parent Portal dropdown menu 4) Select MY EVENTS on the left-hand side (on mobile device, use side arrows to scroll to MY EVENTS) 5) Find your field trip and select CANCEL RSVP. Q: I’m struggling to keep track of these field trip dates! Any tips? A: As soon as you RSVP for an event, a confirmation page will appear confirming your reservation. As part of that confirmation page, there is an option to add the event to your calendar. Clicking on the button will give you different calendar options, such as Google and Outlook. You will also be sent an automatic reminder email 1-3 days before the event. There is also the option of downloading the WIX Spaces App to your phone and receiving reminders through the app directly to your phone. Q: How do I pay for my guests? A: There will be a link in your field trip confirmation email directing you to the platform where you can pay. Payments will be field trip specific, so please be sure you are on the correct field trip payment link before checking out. There are no refunds available; however, under extenuating circumstances, the events team will try to work with a family to apply the nonrefundable payment towards a future field trip. Q: Are there any other rules for field trips? A: Please read the event invitations for any specific venue rules that need to be followed. The Braintree Academy field trip rules can be found in the Code of Conduct for events, which is included in each event invitation and must be agreed to when signing up for an event. Q: Who do I contact if I have questions? A: The best person to contact when you have questions about a particular field trip would be the Event Coordinator who organized the field trip. Their email can be found in the field trip invitation. If you have more general questions about field trips you can contact the following: In-person: IN, ND, OK, WY: Events@BraintreeEd.com ID: events.braintree@malad.us Virtual/Contest/Special Programs: IN, ND, OK, WY: Virtual.Events@BraintreeEd.com ID: virtualevents.braintree@malad.us Field Trips Policy Attendee policy: In order to prioritize our amazing students and their families, our initial event sign pp spots will be open to Braintree Academy students, one parent, and the student’s second parent and/or siblings (immediate family). Invitations for events will not be initially open for people outside the student’s immediate family (guests) Student and immediate family spots are not interchangeable with people outside of the immediate family. Braintree student’s immediate family costs need to be covered by the family. If the invitation is open to guests, the Braintree family is responsible for making sure those costs are covered for their guest(s) Costs and deadlines are outlined in the event invitation Field Trip Sign Up: Families should sign up for the event in their area, or if they are traveling, they can sign up for an event in the area they are traveling to. For more information or questions: Email events@braintreeed.com Idaho families email events.braintree@malad.us
