What is the chemistry behind the recipes we create?
The kitchen is a laboratory full of exciting chemical reactions. In this course, students will become kitchen chemists as they explore how common ingredients and tools work together to create the foods they love. Through hands-on experiments, guided investigations, and kid-friendly recipes, students will learn about the properties of kitchen materials and how heating, cooling, mixing, and measuring cause physical and chemical changes.
As students cook and bake, they will observe reactions in real time, ask scientific questions, and connect chemistry concepts to everyday foods. They will experiment with ingredients, test outcomes, and record their discoveries along the way. By the end of the course, students will create a scientific cookbook that shares both the recipes they made and the science behind them, demonstrating their understanding of chemistry through creativity, curiosity, and delicious results.
