7th/8th Grade ELA: Beyond the Pages Live Complete

Through a rich blend of grade-appropriate novels and CommonLit 360 resources, this course brings literature alive for readers and writers. Students will not only learn about key literary elements, from plot structure to character development and conflict, but also connect these stories to real-life events through cross-curricular studies. Writing units will cover a range of styles, including research, persuasive, narrative, and summary. Students will be expected to write five-paragraph essays. Each week, students will complete a reading assignment and come prepared to discuss key elements of the text and respond to comprehension questions during a Zoom meeting, among other various assignments.
