Instructor: Andrea Stern
Grades: 3-6
Do you want to learn an instrument in a fun and encouraging environment? In this beginner club, students will be introduced to the recorder while building a strong foundation in basic music skills. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and have fun!
Each week, students will learn how to properly hold and play the recorder, read simple musical notation, and develop rhythm and timing. We’ll explore foundational music concepts such as note values, rests, tempo, dynamics, and simple melodies. As the class progresses, students will gain confidence playing songs using a variety of notes and rhythms.
Club time will be interactive and engaging, with a mix of guided instruction, play-along practice, games, and short theory activities to reinforce learning. Students will also have opportunities to share their progress in a supportive setting.
By the end of the semester, students will be able to read beginner-level sheet music and perform several songs on the recorder with confidence. Perfect for beginners, this club is a great first step into the world of music!
