Hairy Reading is a structured literacy program, tailored for children aged 4 to 6 years, typically encompassing pre-kindergarten through 1st grade. Grounded in the Science of Reading, it emphasizes foundational skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and reading fluency.   The program offers an interactive, game-based learning environment where children engage in daily 15–20 minute sessions. These sessions include activities like letter-sound recognition, blending, decoding, and reading decodable books. The curriculum progresses systematically from simple to complex concepts, ensuring a solid foundation in early reading skills.   Hairy Reading provides educators and parents with tools to monitor progress through regular assessments and detailed reports. The program is an individual approach to help close reading gaps. It is best used on a touchscreen device but can work on a computer.
