Grab your creativity and hit the pavement—every student gets their own space and a bag of chalk to turn the sidewalk into a masterpiece! Families will stroll through this colorful outdoor gallery and vote for their favorites in fun categories- there may be prizes for our winners! Whether you're a doodler or a future muralist, this is your moment to shine. Let’s turn the park into a burst of color—one square at a time! Each participant will be given a square of sidewalk and sidewalk chalk. Supplies will be at Cahill at 9:30. Voting will take place at 11:15 and announced shortly after. Come for all or part of the event. Feel free to bring a sack lunch and hang out afterwards. Possible categories for voting: Best Use of Color, Most Impressive Detail, Most Creative Concept, Best of K-3rd, Best of 4-6th, Best of 7-8th, Most School (Braintree Academy) Spirit, Best Positive Message, People's Choice etc. **No profanity, gore, or vulgarity allowed. 🖍️ Tips for a Great Chalk the Block Experience 🌈

1. Plan Your Design Think about what you want to draw ahead of time. Sketch it out on paper or bring a reference photo for inspiration!

2. Start with an Outline Use light lines to map out your drawing before filling in color. It helps keep everything in proportion.

3. Layer Your Colors Blend and layer chalk to create fun textures and vibrant shades. Smudging with your fingers or a cloth can add cool effects!

4. Use the Whole Space Fill your square with creativity—go big and bold!

5. Bring a Towel or Kneepads Sidewalks can be rough—stay comfy while you create.

6. Protect Your Artwork Try not to lean on your drawing, and be careful of others’ work nearby.

7. Stay Hydrated & Wear Sunscreen It might get sunny out there—take care of yourself while you draw! Bring water!

8. Have Fun & Be Kind Encourage others, cheer on your friends, and celebrate everyone’s creativity!
   

Who: Braintree Academy WC7 students and their immediate family members.

Cost: Free for all Braintree Academy/WC7 students and one parent. Immediate family members/guests are $3.00 for those that want to participate. If guests/siblings just want to come play at the park and vote on the art-they don't need to pay. All guest payments must be made by September 2 so we can purchase supplies. 

We have a no-refunds policy for guest fees. If a medical emergency affects your guest’s attendance, please reach out, and we will do our best to apply the fee toward a future event. Please Bring: Water bottles and sunscreen.
