Is Braintree Academy a Public Charter/District School or a Private School?
Braintree Academy is an innovative virtual education provider, offering personalized and flexible learning pathways online and offline. We partner with families and provide access to educational resources. Students are registered as full-time public-school students with our partner district in their specific state.
Idaho-Idaho Home Learning Academy (9-12)
Indiana-Cloverdale Schools (9-11) (only enrolling new 9th graders and 10th graders with high school credits)
Oklahoma-Norman School District (9-10)
What makes this high school program different from traditional schools?
This program offers flexibility in when, where, and how students learn while still meeting all graduation requirements. Students are not tied to a traditional classroom and can work from home or anywhere with internet access. It focuses on personalized learning, independence, and real-world skill development.
Will my student still receive a recognized diploma?
Yes, students graduate through a public school partnership and meet all state requirements. The diploma is recognized just like a traditional public school diploma. This ensures students are eligible for college, careers, or military pathways.
How flexible is the schedule?
Students can choose when they complete their work during the week based on their schedule. This allows families to build a routine that works best for them. However, students must stay on pace and complete weekly assignments that are due each Friday by midnight to their teachers.
How many hours per day should my student work?
Students are expected to engage in schoolwork for about six hours per day. This ensures they meet attendance and instructional requirements. The time can be flexible throughout the day depending on the student’s schedule.
What subjects will my student take?
Students take core courses such as English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. They also choose elective courses based on their interests. This combination ensures both academic requirements and personal interests are met.
Can students choose their classes?
Yes, students have the ability to choose courses within graduation requirements. They work with student advisors and counselors to create a plan that fits their goals and interests. This allows for a more personalized high school experience.
How is learning personalized?
Each student creates a personalized learning plan for every course each semester. They can choose different resources and methods to complete their work. This allows students to learn in ways that match their strengths and preferences

Are there live classes?
Yes, optional live classes are offered in subjects like English, Math, Science and Social Studies for a small fee. These provide additional structure and teacher interaction for students who want it. Live class offerings may vary based on interest each year.
What does a typical week look like?
Students begin the week by reviewing assignments and planning their schedule. Throughout the week, they work on lessons, attend support sessions, and complete activities. By the end of the week, they submit assignments for each class.

Do students learn independently?
Yes, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. They develop time management and organization skills throughout the program. Teachers and parents provide guidance and support along the way.
What if my student needs help?
Students can attend teacher office hours for extra support. They can also reach out directly to teachers or advisors for help. Our student support team offers daily office hours as well. Additional resources and guidance are available when needed.
Are there different ways to complete assignments?
Yes, students can choose from different learning resources and approaches. As long as they meet the required standards, they have flexibility in how they demonstrate learning. This supports different learning styles and preferences.
What is expected of parents?
Parents are expected to monitor their student’s daily progress and learning. They also help ensure assignments are completed. Regular communication with teachers is encouraged.
How is attendance tracked?
Attendance is based on student engagement and assignment submissions. Students must stay on pace with their coursework and turn in their weekly assignments to be counted present.
Will I receive updates about my student’s progress?
Yes, parents receive regular updates and communication from teachers. Weekly updates and progress monitoring help families stay informed. This ensures students stay on track throughout the program.
How do students plan for graduation?
Students create a 4 year plan with support staff or school counselors. This plan outlines their courses and future goals. It ensures they meet graduation requirements while preparing for life after high school.
What pathways are available after high school?
Students can choose from pathways such as college, workforce, or military/public service pathways. Each pathway is designed to prepare students for their next step. This helps align learning with long-term goals.
Are there career-focused options?
Yes, career pathways such as STEM, business, and fine arts are available or being added in some states. These pathways provide focused learning experiences. They help students explore interests and prepare for specific careers.
What technology does my student need?
Students need a laptop or desktop computer to complete their coursework. A Chromebook is not recommended for this program. Reliable internet access is also required for daily learning.
